A partial catalogue of select species: six animals most of us walk past without much thought (or actively curse when they get into the bins). Grey squirrel, raccoon, red fox, brown rat, European hedgehog, and garden snail, given the field guide treatment most of them never get. Foxes might wake us up with their 3am screaming and squirrels and snails can make a mess in our little gardens, but they're part of the ecosystem around us whether we notice or not. Hedgehogs especially, whose numbers are dropping fast in the UK.

Good in a kitchen or hallway, somewhere you'll glance at it on your way to clear up after whatever animal rummaged through the bins last night.
