A gouache staircase illustration pulled straight from my sketchbook (deckled page edges and all). This painting was inspired by a haunting verse in William Hughes Mearns' poem "Antigonish" about a man sensed on the stairs who isn't really there. There's an inked pair of turnips on the opposite page because any blank sketchbook real estate needs filling and why not with a turnip or two?

Works well in a reading nook or a stairwell of your own.
