Birds of London Print - Original Gouache Wildlife Illustration, City Bird Catalogue
A selective catalogue: wood pigeon, house sparrow, magpie, robin, parakeet, and carrion crow. Six birds you'd normally clock without a second thought, painted and catalogued here with the same care you'd give something rare. I love parakeets. Noisy as they are, it feels so refreshing and out of the blue to see a flash of tropical green against a grey London sky, or a stray green feather on the pavement. I also love the varying lore on how they got here: some say Jimi Hendrix released a pair on Carnaby Street in the 60s, others blame an escape from filming The African Queen at Shepperton in 1951, or a damaged aviary in the Great Storm of '87.
This one would suit a stairwell or landing. Anywhere with a bit of height to it.
Original gouache illustration by independent artist Minnie Small. 200gsm smooth matte fine art paper, giclée quality, FSC-certified. Available in 12x16" and 18x24". Frame not included.
